Most of the Broadcaster and Esquire guitars produced in that time period have a body made of quarter sawn ash. The grain is very straight and looks very much like spruce. These guitars are easy to identify and were only produced for a few weeks. This guitar was refinished at Fender in 1954 so the color is more Blonde than Butterscotch.
